THE ALL WEATHER UNIFORM THAT HAS IMPROVED MORALE AT BRISTOL CITY COUNCIL

The parking department at Bristol City Council need to be able to carry out their jobs, regardless of the weather conditions, so having effective  workwear solution is essential.

In this instance, the right uniform can allow staff to carry out their roles to maximum efficiency and by feeling comfortable in what they are wearing, morale is improved too.

Sugdens has been working with the Bristol City Council parking department for a number of years, providing uniforms for staff including traffic wardens. We spoke to Paul Watts, Parking Operations Shift Manager in Parking Services at the council about their uniform needs and why they opted for Sugdens’ uniform solution.

Suitable for the conditions

Paul said, “We needed uniform for our civil enforcement officers, who are walking all day in all weather conditions and carrying lots of equipment.

“They needed coats and jackets that were suitable for the changing weather and also that could have Klick fast doc fitted to it, so that they didn’t have to wear a harness for the Body Worn Cameras (BWC).

“We had to get new jackets and gilets that were suitable for warm, wet and cold weather and also to get a klick fast connected to them. We also decided to change from trousers to cargos as the staff felt that they were more suitable to their role.

“In our most recent order we’ve also added footwear, which historically we hadn’t sourced from Sugdens.”

Good quality uniform

He continued, “Sugdens were the only supplier we consider. We always have had a good relationship and found the company easy to deal with. Carissa was very helpful in sourcing what we needed and suppling samples. The footwear is cheaper than our normal supplier and easier to order in bulk.

“It is good price, good quality uniform. Sugdens were quick at sourcing uniform; if it was something from their catalogue or already supplied and they were quick at answering any issues or questions I had.”

Morale has gone up

Paul concluded, “Morale has gone up since ordering the uniform and the team feel more comfortable in their cargos. The jackets are more waterproof than before and the gilets more suitable and comfortable than what we had before. They also look a lot better.

“Sugdens are very helpful and will always try and meet the customer’s needs, even if it means trying to source something that isn’t already stocked.

“They are quick at responding to any questions and are happy to meet face to face. This is a bonus, as this is sometimes easier than emails or calls.”

Popular items ordered included the Softshell jacket with klick fast docs, gilets and cargo trousers. They were also supplied with beanies, baseball caps and white pilot shirts, all featuring embroidery, as well as jumpers, parking jackets, footwear and fleeces.
